New Assistant Principal Hired For Harding Middle School

Robin Beavers, a science teacher at Garfield Middle School, will take over the job starting Aug. 1, 2017.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The Lakewood Board of Education has approved the hiring of Robin Beavers as the new assistant principal for Harding Middle School. Formerly a science teacher at Garfield Middle School, Beavers replaces the departing Shane Sullivan, who accepted a position with another school district.

“I am looking forward joining the staff at Harding Middle School,” said Beavers in a statement. “Lakewood is a phenomenal district and I am excited to continue building relationships and working with teachers, students and the community throughout the upcoming school year.”

Beavers, a Lakewood resident, has worked with the district for four years, all of them spent at Garfield Middle teaching science. She is studying the District's Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) system and its effects on district students as part of her Ph.D. dissertation. She earned her bachelor's degree from Miami University and her master's in educational administration from Cleveland State.

She has also served as a summer school administrator and alternative-to-suspension director for the district. (Subscribe to the Patch Lakewood newsletter for local news and updates.)

The Board of Education also approved the hiring of Chris Donahoe as the district's next director of operations. Donahoe was previously assistant director of operations. Donahoe replaces the retiring Jim Reitenbach.

Both Beavers and Reitenbach will being their new jobs on Aug. 1, 2017.
