New Health Center At Lakewood High Gets Go-Ahead
The Lakewood Board of Education approved a partnership between the Cleveland Clinic and the school district on Sept. 5.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The Lakewood Board of Education officially approved a partnership with the Cleveland Clinic to create the new Cleveland Clinic Children's School-Based Health Center at Lakewood High School. The deal between the two organizations was approved Sept. 5.
The deal between the district and the Cleveland Clinic is initially for three-years. The first year of the program will be a pilot program. At the end of the 2017-2018 school year, both parties will evaluate the success of the program. Both parties will then be able to withdraw from the contract, given 45 days notice.
Patch previously reported on the details of the partnership. The center will officially open for its pilot year in mid-to-late October, the district said this week. (Subscribe to the Patch Lakewood newsletter for local news and updates.)

Use of the School-Based Health Center is optional. Initially, only students at Lakewood High School and employees of the district will be able to make use of its offerings. An enrollment packet must be filled out before being seen by a provider at the new clinic.
The clinic will also be accessible through a locked door that separates it from the rest of the school and provides a measure of privacy.

The Cleveland Clinic's mobile unit, which has been travelling to schools throughout the district two days a week, will continue to visit all schools except Lakewood High.
