Officer Killed In Lakewood To Be Honored During State Ceremony
David Fahey is one of four police officers that died in the line of duty in 2017 who will be honored during the event.

COLUMBUS, OH — Patrol Officer David Fahey died on Jan. 24. He was killed in the line of duty, trying to protect motorists on I-90 after a car accident disrupted morning traffic. He was 39.
Fahey is one of four officers, all killed in the line of duty in 2017, who will be remember during the Ohio Peace Officers' Memorial Ceremony. That event will be held May 3 in London, Ohio.
"We can never fully repay these officers, but we do our best to honor their commitment and sacrifice," said Attorney General Mike DeWine. "We remember how they embraced their oath of service with courage, and we will never forget their bravery."

Along with Fahey, DeWine will honor Chief Steven "Eric" DiSario, Kirkersville Police Department, who died on May 12, 2017; Patrolman Marvin "Scott" Moyer, Lancaster Police Department, May 26, 2017; and Officer Justin A. Leo, Girard Police Department, October 21, 2017.
A motorcade will proceed from the Fraternal Order of Police Ohio State Lodge in Columbus to the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy in London. DeWine will honor the four fallen officers from 2017, along with five officers that were killed between 1881 and 2010.

The names of all nine fallen officers will be added to the Ohio Fallen Officers' Memorial Wall.
The names of two K-9 officers that died last year will be added to a plaque inside the academy. There will also be a moment of silence for Officers Eric Joering and Anthony Morelli, both of the Westerville Police Department, who were killed on February 10, 2018. The two officers will be formally honored at the memorial ceremony in 2019.
