Ohio Chautauqua: Adult Programs
Head to the library for some great flicks and workshops.

Editor's note: This is the third story in a series of four, featuring the events of the Ohio Chautauqua in Lakewood. Check out the reported last week, and stay tuned for an upcoming story about children's programs at the event.
For a city that is so rich in history, it makes a lot of sense for Lakewood to be a host city for 2011 Ohio Chautauqua, said Andrea Fisher, a librarian at Lakewood Public Library, which will host an adult workshop and Civil War movies
“A lot of people in Lakewood really appreciate the history of the country and the past and I think that it will really attract a lot of people,” Fisher said. “It is the sesquicentennial anniversary of the Civil War, too, so a lot of history buffs are quite aware of that too.”

From Wednesday through Saturday, the library will host a brown-bag lunch and movie. Each of the five days, there will be an adult workshop on varying topics of interests presented by the Chautauqua scholars. The workshops will be about 45 minutes to an hour.
All events will be held in the main library auditorium in the lower level of the library.

“Everything at the library is free and open to the public,” Fisher said. “It’s great to have a big event like this and another opportunity to partner up with organizations around town to really attract a lot of people who wouldn’t normally come into the library to come into the library.”
