Ohio Football Playoffs: St. Ed's Opponent Announced
A heartbreaking loss to rival St. Ignatius won't keep the Eagles out of the playoffs. So who are they playing?

LAKEWOOD, OH — OHSAA announced its high school playoff regional quarterfinals pairing Sunday. Despite a loss to St. Ignatius in the final game of the regular season, the St. Edward Eagles will enter the regional quarterfinals as the second-ranked team, behind only St. Ignatius.
The Eagles lost Saturday's rivalry game against the Wildcats by a score of 17-10. It was a tragic way to end an, until-then unblemished season. It won't necessarily be the last game between the two teams this year though.
St. Ignatius snagged the one-seed in the region. The other six teams, according to ranking are: 3. Mentor (9-1), 4. Euclid (8-2), 5. Massillon Jackson (8-2), 6. Stow-Munroe Falls (9-1), 7. Canton McKinley (8-2), and 8. Massillon Perry (9-1).

All of the regional quarterfinals games will be played Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. OHSAA says game times are subject to change.
Should St. Ignatius and St. Edward win their way forward, the two teams could end up squaring off again in the regional finals. It would be a sweet chance for revenge for the Eagles.

This year's Ohio high school football playoffs will be composed of 224 schools across all division. A total of 719 schools had a team suit up and take the gridiron this year.
Five schools are in the playoffs for the first time. Traditional powerhouses St. Ignatius and St. Edward will not be making their maiden voyage into the post-season.
Teams that win out and make the state championship game (which the Eagles surely hope to do) will find themselves taking the field in Canton Nov. 30. The title games will be played at Massillon Paul Brown Stadium and Canton Fawcett Stadium.
Championship games were previously played at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, but natural grass was recently installed at the horseshoe and Ohio State University asked OHSAA to find a new home for the title games.
