Ohio Sheriff's Employee Allegedly Overdoses, Fights Medics

After being revived with naloxone, an anti-overdose drug, the man reportedly fought the first responders on the scene, police reports say.

BROOKLYN, OH — A Cuyahoga County Sheriff Department employee overdosed on March 23 outside a Brooklyn IHOP. Local police had to restrain the man after they revived him using several doses of naloxone, an anti-overdose drug.

Paul Grivas, a 54-year-old process server with the Sheriffs, was reportedly passed out behind the wheel of his car when police arrived at the restaurant, ABC News reported. After giving him naloxone, Grivas began to struggle with medics and firefighters that were examining him.

"He was flailing his arms, kicking his legs," Brooklyn Police Officer Joe Bugaj said in an interview with ABC News affiliate WEWS. "You never know what could happen, whether or not they're going to be upset, because we are basically taking that high away from them."
