Package Thieves Stole From 7 Lakewood Homes: Police

Lakewood Police say they have dozens of recovered items waiting to be claimed.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Two accused package thieves were arrested by Lakewood Police on Saturday. The suspects may have hit seven different homes around the city and snatched dozens of packages, police said.

The arrests came after a resident got word a package had been delivered to his home. He checked his porch and found the package was gone. Luckily, the resident had a security system with a video camera.

Footage showed a man coming onto the porch, taking the package, and then driving off in a Ford Explorer. Police said they received a similar theft report earlier in the day from a Lark Street home. In the other incident, the Explorer allegedly hit a parked car before speeding off.

Police tracked down the Explorer at 3:20 p.m., on Clifton Boulevard. There were dozens of packages inside the vehicle, police said. Two men in the Ford were arrested: Deangelo Latham, 18, of Bedford; and Keontay Jones, 19, of Cleveland. Both are being charged with four counts of theft in Lakewood Municipal Court.

After investigating, police said they connected at least seven package thefts to the duo. Dozens of items were stripped of information about their recipient and are currently being held by Lakewood Police, waiting to be claimed.
