The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Lakewood.
Hello all. It's me, Carla Varner, your host of the Lakewood Daily — here to tell you all the most important things happening in town. Let's do it.
First, today's weather:
Clouds and sun with a shower. High: 74 Low: 65.
📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Lakewood who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.
I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Lakewood Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top three stories in Lakewood today:
- Lakewood City Officials announced that 200 basic gun locks will be distributed to anyone who requests one from the Police Department. The free firearm safety locks are being given out as part of a gun violence awareness campaign. Lakewood Police Captain Gary Stone said unfortunate accidents are bound to happen when people don't practice gun safety. (Cleveland 19 News)
- In nearby Cleveland, former Mayor Frank Jackson's 19-year-old great-grandson, Donald Jackson-Gates, appeared before a Cleveland Municipal Court judge yesterday morning. The prosecution requested that Donald Jackson-Gates be held without bond until additional testimony could be gathered from an investigating detective. Jackson-Gate's defense argued that he should be given a bond since he has no prior criminal record and is a high school graduate. (Cleveland 19 News)
- Attention Lakewood residents: please be on the lookout for sixty-nine-year-old Jerry Logan who was reported missing, according to Cleveland Police. Logan's family spoke with him last on Jun. 6, and his last sighting was on Jun. 8 on Superior Avenue. The family said they are putting together a search party today, Jun. 11, at 10:00 a.m. at 8500 Superior Avenue. (Cleveland 19 News)
