Portions of Detroit Avenue in Lakewood to be Temporarily Closed
The main drag will be shut down between Marlowe Avenue and St. Charles Avenue from Jan. 9-13. The city released a planned detour map.

LAKEWOOD, OH - There is an old saying that Ohioans are sadly all too familiar with. "There are two seasons in Northeast Ohio," the saying goes, "winter and construction season." Sadly, the two seasons are now converging in Lakewood.
Detroit Avenue, a main drag and business corridor in Lakewood, will be temporarily closed from Marlowe Avenue to St. Charles Avenue from Jan. 9 - Jan. 13. The street will be closed between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. each day during that stretch. Public traffic will re-commence after 5:30 p.m.
The street closure is related to the planned demolition of the professional office building on the southwest corner of Belle and Detroit. The demolition is part of the construction of the Family Health Center and the city says that this should be the only time Detroit is closed during that process.

The city says the closing of Detroit will protect the public during demolition of the building.
The city also released a detour map for residents to consult. For example, parking for Detroit businesses will still be accessible using planned alternate routes. The RTA #26 bus line will also be re-routed to adjust for the closure of the street.'
