Public Input Wanted On Pedestrian Access On Lakewood Bridges

There will be a public meeting on how to improve pedestrian and bicycle access on Lakewood and Rocky River bridges.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Lakewood and Rocky River residents are invited to share their input on a proposal to improve pedestrian and bicycle access on bridges on Clifton Boulevard, Detroit Road and Hilliard Boulevard.

A Community Confluence virtual meeting will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. Residents can join on Facebook Live or through Zoom. The meeting is being hosted by the cities of Lakewood and Rocky River, the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission and the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency.

According to the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission, the three bridges that span the Rocky River valley have "minimal accommodations for people traveling by bike or foot."

"The result is a disconnected active transportation (pedestrian and bicycle) network between the two communities with limited access for all to the Rocky River Reservation. Connections to the Reservation are complicated by the steep topography of the valley; the study area includes 120 foot cliffs in several locations," the commission said.

A study is being funded to explore how to best add pedestrian and bicycle access for both communities. To register to join the meeting via Zoom, or submit a question to the presenters, visit the county planning website.
