Recount Coming For Lakewood City Council Election
Two incumbent councilpersons, one seat on city council. That's what's at stake in Lakewood's recount.

LAKEWOOD, OH β The Nov. 7 general elections saw residents vote for three at-large councilpersons. Two newcomers were elected to city council outright, Meghan George and Tristan Rader. The final seat will be decided via a recount by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.
The recount for Lakewood will be held Dec. 7 starting at 9 a.m. The Board of Elections will work through votes cast in the city's 37 precincts during that time.
Incumbents Tom Bullock and Cindy Marx were locked in a tight race Nov. 7, with Bullock holding a slight lead. Bullock received an even 3,600 votes, while Marx received 3,584.

In Ohio, a recount was triggered when difference between the two candidates was less than .5 percent. Bullock received 15.66 percent of the vote and Marx received 15.59 percent of the vote. The two incumbents were separated by less than .1 percent of the vote.
The final tally of votes for the Nov. 7 election, pending the Board of Elections confirmation on Tuesday afternoon is as follows:

Brian Cleary, ballot services division manager for the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, said the date and time of the recount will be announced Tuesday afternoon. Candidates will be getting certified letters from the Board as well.
