Residents Voice Confidence in Meghan George for Mayor

Campaign Sustains Positive Direction as Election Day Approaches

With one week to go in the campaign to elect Lakewood’s next mayor, community leaders, career public servants, and ordinary residents are speaking out in support of Meghan F. George.

A number of residents have praised George’s commitment to transparent, inclusive governing.

Tim Collingwood, writing in the October 16 Lakewood Observer, said that “As soon as she was voted as a City Council representative, she made city council more transparent, accountable, and to an extensive degree, approachable.”

Councilperson Tristan Rader (Lakewood At-large), who serves alongside both 2019 candidates for mayor, agrees. “The leader on council right now, the person who’s driving the discussion forward, who’s holding the administration accountable and asking the tough questions, is Councilwoman Meghan George," Rader said last week.

Longtime public servants have concurred that George has proved herself as a leader. State Rep. Michael J. Skindell, who has represented Lakewood locally and in state government for two decades, said “Just as she has done on city council, she will represent our community with integrity, honesty and dignity.” Mark Kindt, a veteran of the Federal Trade Commission and Ohio Attorney General’s office, said that “Meghan George has professional maturity in an important private-sector setting.”

A cross-section of Lakewood residents whom George represents on city council have voiced their approval in positive terms:

The conclusion to the 2019 mayoral election will offer voters two distinct choices. The opposing campaign has increasingly turned to cynicism, with a barrage of mailings and paid phone calls, negative campaign ads, and PAC spending by realtors’ lobbying groups.

Meanwhile, George’s campaign has remained focused on a positive vision for a better future.

Lakewood residents will decide which type of politics to reward on Tuesday, November 5.
