Missing Lakewood Woman's Remains Identified

Roaa Al Dhanoon went missing October 2016. Police found a container of remains in a park on May 15. The remains have been ID'd as Dhanoon's.

LAKEWOOD, OH — After months of searching, police have positively identify the remains of Roaa S. Al Dhannoon. A container of remains excavated from Big Creek Reserve in Brooklyn on May 15 held Dhannon's remains, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office confirmed on Wednesday.

How Dhannoon, 24, died is still being determined, law enforcement said in a press release. She has been missing since October 2016. Al Dhannoon was last seen at her apartment on Edgewater Drive in Lakewood.

Lakewood police received information leading them to search the Brooklyn park. The search was a collaboration between the FBI, Lakewood Police, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s office and the Ohio Search and Recovery K-9 Team.

Patch reported in December 2016 that Lakewood Police Chief Tim Malley described Dhannoon's disappearance as suspicious and "out of character" for her because, according to friends, she would never willfully abandon her 3-year-old son. Her son is currently safe.

In late October, Dhannoon's ex-husband, Fahad Mohammed Saeed, was arrested and charged with violating a protection order issued by the Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court as a result of their recent divorce. According to Malley, her ex-husband has not been charged and is not considered a suspect in her disappearance, as they do not have a crime at this time. Saeed is now free on bond.
