🌱 Ronayne Proposes Plan To Ensure Abortion + City Prohibits Fireworks
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Lakewood.
Hi all. I'm back with your new copy of the Lakewood Daily. Let's get this weekend started off right, with a quick review of everything you need to know about what's happening these days in town.
First, today's weather:
Mostly cloudy. High: 82 Low: 67.
📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Lakewood who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.
I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Lakewood Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top three stories in Lakewood today:
- Chris Ronayne, a Democrat running for Cuyahoga County Executive, announced a five-part "Reproductive Freedom" plan on Friday to ensure abortion care and access for county residents. "I am committed to doing everything possible to protect the rights, privacy, and health of all residents of Cuyahoga County," Ronayne said in a news release. His proposal follows the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. (cleveland.com)
- Thirty-one-year-old Blessing Adeleke, a Nigerian man, scammed Northeast Ohio residents, through an online marketplace where people could buy and sell stolen bank account and credit card information and compromised usernames and passwords from major online retailers like Amazon, eBay and PayPal, said federal prosecutors. Adeleke is charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud and bank fraud in a 17-count indictment. The 2020 charges were unsealed Friday after authorities arrested Adeleke in Ghana. (cleveland.com)
- The City of Lakewood reminded residents and visitors that the discharging of fireworks in the city is prohibited via a posting on Twitter. The tweet stated that the recent changes to state law do not affect the local prohibition. (City of Lakewood)
