Roosevelt Elementary Hires New Principal
Current Roosevelt Elementary principal Eileen Griffiths is retiring. The Lakewood Board of Education approved her replacement this week.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Allison Aber will be the next principal of Roosevelt Elementary. The Lakewood Board of Education approved Aber's hiring on Monday.
Aber will replace Eileen Griffiths who is retiring. Aber is currently the principal of Longfellow Elementary, part of the Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools. She will begin her work in Lakewood on August 1, 2019.
“I am so excited to be joining the Roosevelt Elementary team,” Aber said. “I look forward to meeting everyone and learning more about all of the wonderful things happening at Roosevelt. Together with students, staff, and community, I am committed to working hard to continue to build upon Roosevelt's achievements. I am truly honored to become a part of the Lakewood family."

Aber created a learning lab makerspace at Longfellow and competed for and received a $20,000 grant from the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation. During Aber's tenure, AIR testing scores improved nearly 10 percent.
Prior to becoming principal at Longfellow, Aber was assistant principal at Madison Local Schools' middle school for four years. She began her career in education as a math and language arts teacher working with students in grades 5-6 in the Madison Local and Highland Local school districts.
