School Board Candidates Prepare for Public Forum
"Meet the Candidates" — a forum organized by the Lakewood Council of PTAs — will put Board of Education hopefuls to the test on Wednesday night.
With a heavy in the years ahead, parents want solutions that move beyond talking points and go-to rhetoric.
They want answers, and on Wednesday, the Lakewood Council of PTAs will host a Meet the Candidates night to let people inquire about the future management of the school system.
It’ll also give voters an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the candidates who include incumbent and challengers , , , and .

There are three seats on the school board up for election.
“Candidates will have the opportunity, with limited time, to introduce themselves and then to respond (again with limited time) to a series of questions,” PTA’s president Christina McCallum said.

“A moderator will facilitate the questions and answer period with assistance from a timekeeper.”
Questions will come from the audience, and from e-mails and correspondence that were sent by those from around the community, she said.
The Q-and-A forum will take place in the cafetorium at Garfield Middle School from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.
The local election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 8.
