Search For Missing Man Fruitless At Edgewater
Crews spent much of Thursday night looking for a reportedly missing swimmer. Problem is, there's no evidence anyone was actually missing.

CLEVELAND, OH — The search for a reportedly missing swimmer has found no evidence someone is actually missing, authorities said. Cleveland Fire Department crews spent much Thursday night searching the waters of Lake Erie, but found no indication of a missing person.
Callers reported seeing an elderly man go into the waters of Edgewater Beach at about 8 p.m. on Thursday night. The man reportedly never came out of the water.
Crews spent much of Thursday night searching for this missing man, but found no evidence of his existence. Divers used sonar equipment to search the waters and the U.S. Coast Guard assisted other rescue units, WKYC reported. The searchers found nothing.

A Lakewood Police Department official told Patch that no one from his department, or Lakewood Fire, were participating in search-and-rescue operations Thursday night. All searches were handled by Cleveland Fire.
Cleveland Metropark Rangers are continuing to search nearby shorelines on Friday morning, but other crews have been called off. The full-scale search is unlikely to resume Friday. Cleveland Fire Department Lieutenant Mike Norman told Fox 8 that there simply had been no evidence found that there was, actually, a missing person.
