See The New Lakewood High Performing Arts Wing

A formal dedication ceremony on August 20 will offer attendees the chance to tour the new Performing Arts & Physical Education wing.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The new wing of the Lakewood High School Performing Arts & Physical Education wing will be formally dedicated on August 20. During the event, there will be free tours of the building and the new facilities.

The event will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on that Saturday. If visitors were unable to see the new academic wing of the school, that portion of Lakewood High will also be open for touring.

"This is a major event for our community as it marks the completion of our Facilities Master Plan that has been more than a decade in the making," said Superintendent Jeff Patterson in an email to Patch. "It is a chance to thank our community for the amazing support it has shown these many years through the passage of the bond issues that made the rebuilding and renovation of our 10 schools possible. It truly is a milestone for all of us to celebrate!"

Some of the new features in the building include a revamped cafeteria, media center, new Ranger Shop, band room, choir room, black box theater, keyboard lab, uniform storage room, and music library. The gym, weight room, and fitness center will not yet be completed. Construction on the gym, weight room, and fitness center was extended after First Federal offered to help fund the fitness center.

However, a spokesperson for the Lakewood Schools said guests may be able to look into the gym from the cafeteria and see the development and the indoor track.
