🌱 Skateboard Stolen At Gunpoint + City Closures For Juneteenth

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Lakewood.

Hello again, everybody! It's Monday in Lakewood and I'm back in your inbox to get you caught up on the most important things happening in the community today.

First, today's weather:

Warmer; a shower in the a.m.. High: 83 Low: 70.

Here are the top three stories today in Lakewood:

  1. An area teen's skateboard was reported stolen at gunpoint earlier this month, according to a recently-released Lakewood police blotter. On Jun. 5, a local woman called authorities to report her 17-year-old grandson was robbed by five suspects who jumped out of an SUV. The group took the male's skateboard, as well as the cell phone of another juvenile the male had been walking with. (cleveland.com)
  2. Because Juneteenth fell on the weekend this year, many Cleveland metro facilities are observing the federal holiday today (Monday, Jun. 20). Most federal, county, and post offices and local public libraries are closed for the day. Additionally, the City of Lakewood's refuse and recycling collection will resume tomorrow (Tuesday, Jun. 21). 3. Don't have a pool at home? Stay cool for the summer with Lakewood's two municipal pools. Head over to Foster Pool at Lakewood Park or Becks Pool at Madison Park for a day of family-friendly fun. While private bookings for both pools have been filled for the summer, guests are still invited to join for an open swim. (WJW FOX 8 News Cleveland)
