St. Ed's Beats Lakewood, Wins Community Cup

The Eagles took back the Community Cup with a 4-1 victory on Tuesday night.

LAKEWOOD, OH — In a packed stadium on Tuesday night, the St. Edward Eagles defeated the Lakewood Rangers soccer team 4-1, winning back the Community Cup. The Eagles came out of the gates firing, scoring three goals in a little more than 15 minutes of game play, quieting a raucous crowd.

The first goal was scored in less than a minute, when St. Ed's Bobby Pierce kicked through a beautiful shot. From there, the score ran out of control. The St. Ed's soccer team dominated much of the game and ended with an advantage in shots, shots on goal, corner kicks, and free kicks. Three more goals followed in the offensive onslaught for St. Ed's.

“We started off good because it was all about the Cup,” said St. Edward Head Coach Emil Haitonic on the school website. “This is the best start we ever had. They wanted to play.”
