St. Edward Football In State Championship: Everything To Know

Tickets are just $11 for the final game against undefeated Colerain High. The championship will be played at the Football Hall of Fame.

LAKEWOOD, OH — St. Edward High football has been on a tear this post-season, knocking off rival St. Ignatius and Mentor on the road to a state championship appearance. Only Cincinnati's undefeated Colerain High stands in the way of another Eagles title.

The team's final game of the season will be played Friday night in Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. Kick-off is 8 p.m. Tickets are $11 pre-sale for the game.

St. Ed's Head Coach Norm Weber said his team will need to defend Colerain's triple-option offense, a unique threat in the high school football game. “They have quality of speed, athletes, and good line play with that type of offense, which gives them a combination that could be lethal," he said on the St. Ed's football blog.

Colerain is undefeated on the year, trotting to a 14-0 record on the season. St. Ed's dropped their first two games of the season, losing to Cass Tech (an out-of-state team) and Mentor. The Eagles also dropped their final regular season game to St. Ignatius.

In the post-season, St. Ed's got a chance to avenge their losses to Mentor and the Wildcats. The Eagles seized their opportunity and sent both squads home for the year. Will the momentum of those victories propel St. Ed's to another state championship game victory? Only time will tell.
