St. Edward High Has 3 All-Ohio Football Players

The Eagles had a great regular season, falling just short against Mentor and St. Ignatius.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Three St. Edward High School football players have been named to All-Ohio teams by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association. Two players were named to First Team All-Defense.

The Eagles had a great season, nearly going undefeated before losing their final regular season game to rival St. Ignatius. The team was then knocked-off in the postseason by the Mentor Cardinals. The Cardinals also upset St. Ignatius on their way to the Division I State Championship game on Friday night.

While failing to win another state championship is undoubtedly disappointing for the Eagles and their supporters, the team played a great regular season and came up just short in two crucial games. That's nothing to be ashamed of.

Plus, having three players make the roster of All-Ohio teams is incredibly impressive.

Most of the voters for the teams were formerly voters for the Associated Press All-Ohio teams. The Associated Press is no longer doing post-season honors for high school football in Ohio.
