St. Edward Moves Into Top 3 In Latest Football Ranking

The Eagles are one of only three undefeated teams in Division I, Region I.

LAKEWOOD, OH — After a decisive 36-0 win over Buchtel on Friday, the St. Edward Eagles moved up a spot in the OHSAA computer rankings, climbing to third in Division I, Region I. St. Ed's is now one of three undefeated teams remaining in the region.

Stow-Munroe Falls, the team previously ranked third, lost its first game of the season on Friday, dropping the Bulldogs to fifth. St. Ed's trails rival St. Ignatius (1) and Canton McKinley (2) in the rankings. Both teams are 5-0.

St. Edward will return to action Sept. 30 against Naperville Central. That game will be played at Naperville Central at 1 p.m. (Subscribe to the Patch Lakewood newsletter for local news and updates.)

If things stay the course, the 2017 version of the "Holy War" game between St. Ignatius and St. Ed's will be a legendary showdown. That game will be played Oct. 28 in Lakewood.
