St. Edward Wins District Championship, Moves To Regional Semis
The Eagles got a double dose of joy, securing a district championship and beating their rivals in the same game.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The St. Edward Eagles basketball team are district champions once again. After knocking off Lakewood last week, the boys took on their heated rival St. Ignatius in the district finals on Saturday. St. Ed's won the game in blowout fashion, notching a 71-57 win.
The Eagles will now move on to the regional semifinals, the next stop on a long journey to a Division I State Championship. St. Ed's next game is March 14 at 7 p.m. the University of Akron. St. Ed's will be taking on Lorain High School, the winner of the Elyria district championship. Lorain is 20-5 on the season, St. Ed's is 22-3 on the year.
All of Ohio's regional playoff basketball games will be broadcast on Spectrum Sports (channel 311, or channel 510 for former Insight areas). The games will also be broadcast on the OHSAA Radio Network. The games can be listened to by clicking here.

In the other regional semifinals for Region I, Toledo Whitmer will play St. John's Jesuit. The winner of the game will play the winner of Lorain and St. Ed's for the Region I Regional Championship.

St. Ed's knocked off Lakewood High School in a cross-town match-up last week. It was the second time this season the two high schools squared off and the second time St. Ed's won by double digits. Then the Eagles moved on to a championship game against St. Ignatius.
