State Rep. Nickie Antonio to Host Lakewood “Women Honoring Women” May 4

LAKEWOOD, OHIO – State Representative Nickie Antonio, representing District 13, will host Lakewood Women’s Club inaugural spring fundraiser, “Women Honoring Women,” May 4, 2017 at Georgetown Vosh in Lakewood, Ohio.

“I am thrilled to host an event that honors the many outstanding women leaders in our community,” said Rep. Antonio. “I am also proud to announce that the event is nearly sold-out and the proceeds will support a scholarship and a local non-profit organization, Trinity Lakewood Community Outreach.”

Laura Ponticello, award-winning author and publisher who is best known for her books “Live the Life of Your Dreams” and “The Art of Self Transformation, A Guide to Awakening,” will be the keynote speaker.

“Laura is the ideal keynote speaker as she as dedicated her career to empowering others to achieve infinite potential in their lives,” said Kristy Feyedeleman, president, Lakewood Women’s Club.

The event ceremony will recognize three outstanding women from our community. A College Scholarship as well as an Emerging Leader and a Distinguished Leader award will be presented to Lakewood women who have demonstrated a variety of outstanding accomplishments and contributions to our community.

“We are recognizing three phenomenal women, but the ceremony is much more,” explained Laura Ponticello. “Each and every nominee and attendee will be celebrated for what they have achieved, what they are striving to achieve, and their potential to achieve.”

The award winners were chosen from a number of nominations submitted by the community prior to the event. The selection committee was comprised of the current president of the Lakewood Women’s Club, Torey Worron, board member and Event Chair, Melissa Meehan, former president, Ellen Todia, former president, and Molly McGirr, community participant.

Tickets for the event are on sale now at: https://womenhonoringwomen2017.eventbrite.com/. Your minimum donation of $35 per person includes admission to event as well as appetizers, an open bar for two hours and the opportunity to win raffle items, gifts, and a meet the author book sale & signing.

“Laura has graciously offered to donate 10 percent of all proceeds from her book signing to the Lakewood Women’s Club,” said Torey Worron. “Corporate Sponsorships are still available, contact me if interested!”

About Nickie Antonio

State Representative Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) is serving her fourth term in the Ohio House of Representatives. Representing the 13th House District, she was also appointed to serve on the Democratic Caucus leadership team as Minority Whip during the 132nd General Assembly, having previously served as Minority Whip in the 131st General Assembly, and Assistant Minority Whip for part of the 130th. Antonio’s district includes the City of Lakewood and parts of Cleveland’s West Side: The Detroit Shoreway (Gordon Square Arts District), The Stockyards, West Boulevard, Cudell, The Village of Linndale, and a section of Ohio City neighborhoods.

Antonio currently serves as the highest ranking Democratic member of the Health and Aging Committee. Additionally, she serves on the Finance and Appropriations Committee, Finance Subcommittee on Higher Education, Rules and Reference Committee and the Joint Medicaid Oversight Committee. The first in her family to graduate from college, Antonio holds a Master of Public Administration Degree from the Maxine Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, also from CSU. Antonio is an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School Senior and Executive Leadership program for State and Local Governments, and also a graduate of Lutheran West High School in Rocky River, Ohio.
