- Since the start of the pandemic, stress is up for students and teachers locally and around the country, with 70 percent of public schools reporting an increase in students seeking mental health services. Willoughby-Eastlake teacher Robert McFee, president of the North Eastern Ohio Education Association said local schools don't have nearly enough mental health resources to help all the students who need them. McFee added, "The funding, it just isn't there to hire the amount of staff that we would actually need." (cleveland.com)
- Mayor Justin Bibb is looking to re-establish the Urban Forestry Commission, a 15-member commission to oversee the protection of the city's tree cover, which averages at approximately 18 percent. Mayor Bibb would like to see the tree cover closer to 40 percent. The commission will make recommendations to the mayor about how to best grow and maintain the canopy. (News 5 Cleveland)
- Lakewood Park, the 31-acre lakefront park, won 'Best Playground' in the 2022 Parent Choice Awards. The park features a seasonal pool, bandshell, and skatepark, and offers many activities including a zero-entry children's wading pool, four tennis courts, three sand volleyball courts, and more.
