A Grant Elementary student said they were offered candy by a stranger while walking to school on Wednesday.

LAKEWOOD, OH — A stranger reportedly offered a Grant Elementary student candy on Wednesday morning. The student said they ran away from the woman and made it safely to school.
The student said the incident happened while they were walking to school, near Mars and Detroit avenues, according to Lakewood Police. Investigators said they did not find anything suspicious when reviewing city surveillance cameras in the area, but security has been increased around the school, Captain Leslie Wilkins told Patch.
In a letter to families, the staff at Grant Elementary said Lakewood Police had been notified of the incident and were present at Grant on Wednesday. The parent of the student was also called and informed of the incident.
