Summer Solstice Event Set For June 21 In Lakewood

Event planners have doubled the number of food trucks at the event. They've also managed to secure the Swenson's truck for the event.

LAKEWOOD, OH - The second annual Summer Solstice celebration will be held June 21 at the city's Solstice Steps. The event will bring live music and food trucks to the steps, giving residents a chance to enjoy one of Lakewood's most beautiful parks on the longest day of the year.

Last year's event brought 3,000 people to the steps. The event was so popular the food trucks in attendance ran out of food. Colin McEwen, a spokesperson for the city, said event planners were shocked by how popular the event was in its first year.

"Last year, we didn’t know how successful it was going to be. We thought maybe we’d have a couple hundred people. We had three or four food trucks and they all sold out of food," he said.

The same mistakes won't plague this year's Summer Solstice celebration. McEwen told Patch the city has doubled the number of food trucks at the event, even adding the Swenson's truck. Food will be available in abundance at the event.

Here's the list of food trucks that are signed up for the event:

Attendees will also be able to enjoy the musical styling of the Revolution Brass Band from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. The St. Ed's Trash Talkers will play from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Revolution Brass Band does covers of contemporary music with wind and brass instruments, providing universally appealing entertainment, McEwen said.

"We want to build off the success of last year's event," he said. "We're stepping up our game."

Notably, the event is free and open to the public. So don't worry about securing tickets.
