Here are the top three stories in and around Lakewood today:

  1. Parma City School District officials canceled summer classes on Friday because of another violent threat. All summer school sessions, extracurricular activities, athletics, band, and other district programs are canceled "until further notice" while investigators look into the threat. Superintendent Charles Smialek said, "It's a very frustrating difficult situation in terms of more being done I mean ultimately it comes back to mental health and community resources," he said. (Cleveland 19 News)
  2. 30 of Deshaun Watson's sexual misconduct accusers settled claims against the Houston Texans for enabling Watson's alleged sexual misconduct during massage therapy sessions. The Cleveland Browns quarterback is waiting to hear if he will be suspended for all or part of the 2022 season. Watson still has four civil suits pending against him which his attorney, Tony Buzbee, said he plans on trying in the spring. (cleveland.com)
  3. The United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio issued a subpoena to the Cleveland Law Department pursuant to a federal investigation into nonprofits, several of which are associated with former city councilman Basheer Jones. The May 5 document ordered the city to turn over any and all physical and electronic records related to the Famicos Foundation and Lexington Bell between Jan 1, 2018, to Jan. 3, 2022. The subpoena requests Community Development Block Grant draw request documents from either of the two organizations. (News 5 Cleveland)
