Trump Met With Rocky River Mayor
Mayors from across the nation met with President Donald Trump on Wednesday, including two mayors from Ohio.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rocky River Mayor Pamela Bobst met with President Donald Trump on Wednesday during a conference of mayors at the White House. More than 30 mayors from across the nation spent time with the president discussing the opioid crisis, the nation's aging infrastructure and how to grow the economy.
The meeting of mayors and Trump became controversial when several high-profile mayors of large cities, like New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, turned down the meeting because of the Justice Department announcing it would again target sanctuary cities.
"I will NOT be attending today’s meeting at the White House after @realDonaldTrump’s Department of Justice decided to renew their racist assault on our immigrant communities. It doesn’t make us safer and it violates America’s core values," de Blasio said on Twitter.

Bobst, a Republican, has been the mayor of Rocky River since 2006. She ran unopposed in 2017. Rocky River is one of the few cities in Cuyahoga County that places party labels on the ballot. The mayor's office said she would not be able to comment on the meeting until next week at the earliest.
Only one other Ohio mayor, Highland Heights' Scott Coleman, attended the meeting, according to the White House Press Office.
