A message from LAKEWOOD CITY SD
Last night, Lakewood High Principal Keith Ahearn shared with the LHS community that a graffiti threat had been discovered by custodial staff on Friday evening. The threat made reference to the Columbine shootings. Attached is an edited photo of the threat. The Lakewood Police Department was notified immediately and has been working on the investigation ever since.
The message sent to parents and staff on Saturday asked for anyone that has any information to call the 24-hour security hotline. Several tips have been reported to the hotline as a result of that communication and LPD has investigated all credible reports but as of this writing there has not been a breakthrough leading to who the author of this threat might be. If you have any information to share, please call the hotline at 216-227-5311.
Classes will be held at LHS as usual on Monday. Tomorrow and in the coming days, the building will be carefully monitored and the Lakewood Police Department will be on the LHS campus as well as at the two middle schools.
We take this threat very seriously and acknowledge the fears of our parents and students. However, we cannot let this kind of intimidation stop the important work of educating our students. We will keep you posted of any further developments that may lead us to a resolution of this troubling incident.
Jeff Patterson
Superintendent
Lakewood City Schools
