City Council Meeting
Last Monday, Lakewood City Council held its first virtual meeting in the City’s history. We were able to conduct council business and seek input from the public. We hope that we can get back to in-person meetings soon, but it is reassuring that we are able to still meet while following the physical distancing guidelines.
Mayor George announce her appointments of Claudia Dillinger to the position of Director of Human Resources and Peter Rancatore to the position of Director of Finance. Ms. Dillinger graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She previously served as the Human Resource Director of Athens, Macedonia, and most recently, Elyria. Mr. Rancatore received his bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University and his Master of Public Administration from Golden Gate University. He previously served as the Director of Finance for the Cities of Loveland and Toledo and served in the Ohio Army National Guard, where he was awarded Soldier of the Year in 1987. We look forward to learning more about the newly appointed directors today at the Committee of the Whole Meeting.
Council unanimously approved Lakewood Truck Park’s application for a liquor permit. Located at 16900 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood Truck Park will have a large bar that could seat around 36 people in addition to picnic tables and booths for those enjoying the food trucks. The Truck Park will also sell ice cream, have an outdoor bar, and a courtyard with fire pits. I look forward to visiting once the weather gets warmer and we can enjoy spending time with friends again.
