  • Heritage Advisory Board — Advises city officials, and the community, on matters of historic preservation. The group meets monthly. There are currently two open positions on the Board, both are for four-year appointments, effective Jan. 1, 2019.
  • Planning Commission — Makes recommendations, and reports, on proposed changes to Lakewood's Zoning Code. The commission will also oversee changes to (or development) of public land, and will hold public hearings on those changes. The commission has one vacancy, for a six-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2019. Planning Commission members need expertise in land use and/or development, and should be able to dedicate five hours, per month, to the commission.
  • Board of Nuisance Abatement Appeals — Listens to appeals from property owners that have properties recently designated as nuisances. The Board meets infrequently, as-needed, but performs a "necessary due process function for residents," the city said.
  • Animal Safety & Welfare Advisory Board — Advises city officials, and the community, on a variety of animal issues. Recent activities from the board have included: outreach on the new dog safety ordinance, organizing spay and neuter events, and support for the Spooky Pooch Parade. Applicants should be able to commit to one monthly meeting, and one additional sub-committee meeting, as-need. Appointments are for one-year terms, starting Jan. 1, 2019.
