What's Happening At Belle And Marlowe?: Lakewood Construction
Noticed construction on the two roads? It's all part of a downtown development on Detroit Avenue.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Crews started to pull underground storage tanks in the front yard of development sites near Belle and Marlowe, the city announced. The tanks held fuel for the former Lakewood Hospital's back-up generators. Temporary fencing will be erected in the front yard of the property and there will be increased truck traffic over the next 45 days, the city said on social media.
The city's economic development director, Bryce Sylvester, said that while plans are moving forward, city officials are seeking public input on the development of the Detroit Avenue property. There is a public meeting on the development scheduled for Thursday, September 13, at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium of City Hall.
That meeting will be held by the Architectural Board of Review. On Thursday's meeting, the group will discuss the design of the project.

Initial renderings of the design proposal have been pulled, so that the public can have direct input on both what goes into the site and how it will look. A mixed-use development is still what's being planned.
