As the Summer of '77 (degrees) winds down, I apply my procrastinator's mantra to my smoking cessation efforts..."Why do something today that I can blow off until tommorow?" I mean, that's the reason for this blog...the longer I blog, the longer I smoke. That philosophy has just met its match. I'm going back to work, so now I really have to quit, like, soon.
The last time I posted, I was explaining one of life's basic truths...that if there is a problem confronting you, either throw money at it or take a pill. There was no shaking these psychological horror stories, and by the fifth day I couldn't take it anymore. Phillip Morris 12, me nothing.
So far I've tried a variety of stop smoking strategies and none have worked, except prohibition (jail...but all I could think of was cigarettes, and as soon as I got out I lit up. ) One thing that at least changed the manner in which nicotine was delivered that was relatively satisfying was a combination of the nicotine patch and the nicotine gum.
