Woman Found Dead Near Lakewood Train Tracks

LAKEWOOD, OH — A woman was found dead near the railroad tracks in Lakewood on Sunday afternoon, police announced.

At 4:45 p.m., a caller reported someone had been hit by a westbound train in Lakewood. Officers searched the area and found a dead woman near the tracks, just west of Cove Avenue.

Police have notified the woman's family. The investigation into her death is ongoing. A Lakewood police spokesperson told Patch there have been few updates in the investigation in the week following the woman's death.

The railroad crossings were briefly blocked from the eastern Lakewood city limits west to Nicholson Avenue, police said.
