Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:

  1. American Rescue Plan Act funds will be coming to Marietta Main Street in the near future. The City of Marietta has allotted $125,000 for building care and maintenance downtown, as well as $190,000 for operational support and long-term investment into the area. Additional fund requests were submitted to the council and include a funding request to update five intersections. (Subscription: The Parkersburg News and Sentinel)
  2. The Marietta College softball team will be getting a new softball complex after a $750,000 donation was announced at the Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony over the weekend. The donation from Joseph A. and Linda J. Chlapaty allows the college to finalize its $1.1 million renovation of the softball complex. Renovation plans include a FieldTurf surface, lights, stadium bleachers, and a press box. (Subscription: The Logan Daily News)
  3. In case you missed it: The Marietta City Schools Board of Education meeting scheduled for the evening of Monday, Feb. 21 has been canceled. Superintendent Brad Silvus cited a board member being out of the country and the administration still compiling information for strategic planning as the reason behind the cancelation. The meeting has been rescheduled for Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. (Subscription: The Marietta Times)
