Richard "Dick" Lee Borman, a beloved resident of Marietta, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on May 9, 1936, in Marietta, Ohio, Dick lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to his family, community, and country.
Dick was a proud graduate of Marietta High School, Class of 1954. Following his education, he served honorably in the United States Air Force, a testament to his commitment to his nation. After his military service, Dick worked as a foreman at Dravo/Connex, where he was respected for his leadership and work ethic. After his retirement he drove for the O'Neil Center for 21 years.
A man of many interests, Dick was an active member of the American Legion Local #168. He had a passion for golf and bowling and enjoyed coaching little league baseball, sharing his love for sports with the younger generation. Dick will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his community, and his zest for life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Kelly Borman of Clinton Township, MI; his brother, John Borman; his sister, Rosalie Ayers; his devoted companion, Sharon Johnson; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Blufford and Edna Hupp Borman; his beloved wife, Ruth Jeanette Karcher Borman, whom he married on January 14, 1959; his brother, Jerry Borman; and his sisters, Patty Cooper and Judy Hendrickson.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dick's life at a funeral service on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME in Marietta, Ohio with Bob Feathers officiating, followed by a graveside service at East Lawn Memorial Park in Marietta, Ohio. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in Dick's memory.
