• Washington County residents renew demands for action on injection wells after meeting with ODNR (wtap.com) — Local advocates and officials in and around Marietta are pressing Ohio regulators for stronger, enforceable shutdown orders on nearby fracking wastewater injection wells they fear could threaten drinking water. After a recent ODNR meeting, a coalition including a Marietta College geologist sent a detailed follow-up letter and is planning independent water studies. City of Marietta and area water boards have already passed resolutions seeking a three-year moratorium and broader geological review.
   

• Lawsuit: Companies ignored safety warnings before well explosion killed two, burned survivor (wtap.com) — From Marietta, a new lawsuit in Washington County Common Pleas Court alleges two drilling companies ignored safety warnings before a well explosion in Wayne National Forest that killed two workers and severely burned another. The injured Monroe County man is seeking damages and claims state safety rules weren't followed, raising broader questions about oversight of orphan well projects in the region. The companies have declined to comment so far.
