Marietta, Wheeling Park play to 0-0 draw (newsandsentinel.com) — Marietta High's girls soccer team battled Wheeling Park to a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Devola Field, with keeper Maura Misel racking up nine saves for her fourth straight shutout. Coaches called the annual matchup a key measuring stick for a young Tigers squad, which generated several near-misses on goal and now turns its focus to hosting Nitro at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Marietta levee project nearing completion, officials urge public to stay out of work zone (wtap.com) — Marietta's riverfront levee is almost finished, and city officials are warning residents to stay out of the work zone while fresh concrete cures and railings are installed. The mayor is planning a Sept. 3 ribbon cutting and reminding people about strict pedestrian and traffic closures on the bridge during Sternwheel fireworks, with possible charges for anyone who ignores the rules.

Marietta High School Band Prepares Winter Show Under New Director (sboplus.net) — Marietta High School's "Wall of Sound" marching band is deep into rehearsals for its winter-themed show, "Frost Work," under new director Barnett. She's emphasizing personal connections and life skills like responsibility and resilience, while students say the program builds confidence, camaraderie, and a positive tone for the school year with support from a full instructional team.
   

4. WTAP's 100 Candle Club honors Centenarian Janice Kindelberger (wtap.com) — Longtime Marietta-area resident Janice Kindelberger is being honored by WTAP's 100 Candle Club after celebrating her 100th birthday on August 23. Now living in Devola and active at Putnam Congregational Church, she's remembered for decades of teaching in Monroe County and for recently donating a new cabin to Camp Hervida, a gift highlighted in the Marietta Times.
   

5. Washington State College of Ohio celebrates first Occupational Therapy Assistant graduating class (wtap.com) — Washington State College of Ohio in Marietta is celebrating the first graduating class from its Occupational Therapy Assistant program, with nine students completing the new course this summer. Leaders say the program arrives as southeastern Ohio faces strong demand for OTAs, and they hope these graduates will strengthen local healthcare and support area families and communities.
