Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:

  1. On Monday, Stephen Osborne of Marietta was sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempted murder. According to reports, Osborne attacked Devon Ours with a baseball bat in February 2021. He entered an Alford plea with the Washington County Prosecuting Attorney, denying guilt and being sentenced to 10 years in prison. (WTAP)
  2. On Monday night, American Rescue Plan Act funding requests were heard by the Marietta City Council. Among the requests were funding to keep homeless stations open, repairs for the Marietta Aquatic Center, and grant money for the Washington County Sewer Project. The council will make a finalized plan for how to use the funds. (Marietta Times)
  3. The Zonta Club of the Mid-Ohio Valley has yet to receive any nominations for its "Woman of the Year" award, so it's expanding the parameters. In addition to women from Washington County, women from Wood County can also now be nominated. Applications can be sent to the Zonta Club of the MOV in Marietta. (Marietta Times)
