
Barbara Ann Henthorne, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the age of 87. She was born on December 5, 1938, in Lynn, Massachusetts to the late Glen and Ida Gustafson Davis.
She was a graduate of Salem Liberty High School, Class of 1956, and pursued her passion for beauty by attending beauty school to become a hairdresser. Her career was diverse and fulfilling, as she worked as a homemaker, a secretary and bookkeeper for Henthorne's Lawn and Garden Center, and as a funeral attendant and hairdresser at Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home for many years.
Barbara was a member of the First Congregational Church in Marietta, Ohio, and actively participated in various quilt clubs, including the Margaret Mary Quilters and the Sew-and-Sew Quilting Group. She was a passionate quilter, often referring to herself as a "Piecer." She was involved in her community through the children's league organization (CCL) which she founded, her service as a poll worker during elections, and as a 4-H volunteer.

She enjoyed watching NASCAR, cheering for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and supporting the Ohio State Buckeyes. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family, She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, kindness, and community spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Barbara is survived by her loving children, Lisa Ross (Steve) and Robert "Bob" Henthorne Jr. (Brenda); her grandchildren, Michael Henthorne (Margaret), Adam Anderson (Kristy Dearth), Elizabeth Anderson (Mike Brannon), Amy McKenzie (Adam), and Shane Henthorne (Loren); her great-grandchildren, Nick Henthorne, Tyler Henthorne, Caleb Anderson, Hailey Anderson, Aubrey McKenzie, Ashlyn McKenzie, and Miles Henthorne; and her great-great-grandchildren, Oakley, Avery, and Aspynn Henthorne. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Bette Baker.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert "Bob" Henthorne, whom she married on July 14, 1957 and her brothers, Richard "Dick" Davis and Roger Davis.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOMES in Marietta, Ohio with Chaplain Kara Clegg officiating, followed by a graveside service at Tunnel Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Barbara's life during the visitation at the funeral home on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and an hour before the funeral service.
