Seatbelt Safety Week

With prom season approaching, the Safe Communities Coalition and OSU CARTEENS invites the media to cover a series of high-impact safety events at local high schools in Washington County,&nbsp;OH. “These events are especially important as we approach prom week, reminding students that wearing a seatbelt and staying focused while driving can save lives,” said Amanda Lemaster, Safe Communities Coordinator. These events aim to provide students with a sobering and memorable look at the consequences of distracted and impaired driving. Key highlights include a high-energy, interactive game show and a realistic mock crash demonstration involving local first responders. EVENT SCHEDULE: Marietta High School Poster ContestWhat: Students design posters highlighting dangers of texting while driving (distracted driving). Display throughout the school and school contact would be Kristen Goeller-Spanish TeacherWhen: Wednesday April 15, 2026 thru Friday April 24, 2026.Where: Marietta High School&nbsp; Seatbelt Safety Week&nbsp;@ Waterford HSWhat: Chalk the walk, Design a sticker, Intoxicated Goggles, and Seat Belt relayWhen: Monday April 20, 2026 thru Friday April 24, 2026Where: Waterford High School&nbsp; Think Fast Interactive Program What: A fast-paced, game-show-style educational program that uses trivia and music to teach students about driving safety. Across the country, Friends and people of all faiths are gathering in Quaker-led silent worship in public spaces to share witness and show collective ‘Love as Action’ on April 25-26th.&nbsp;
This event reflects core Quaker principles—peace, equality, integrity, and community - by taking action publicly, and affirming our commitment to justice and compassion.&nbsp;
Together, we affirm that every person has worth, that fear and violence must give way to love and fairness, and that our communities thrive when all are welcomed.&nbsp;
