Here are the top stories today in Marietta:

  1. Washington County is creating a central 911 center. There are issues and delays with the current system that regularly has to transfer calls to different police departments in the area. The central 911 center could be up and running in a year and a half. (WTAP)
  2. The Marietta Riverfront Roar is returning after two years off due to the pandemic. (Parkersburg News)
  3. The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley is currently overwhelmed with dogs. The shelter's $20 adoption deal is up and running through mid-July. (WTAP)
  4. Southeast Ohio's US Congressman Bill Johnson gave remarks in Washington on Joe Biden's energy crisis calling it preventable, and intentional. (Bill Johnson)
  5. The ACLU, ACLU of Ohio, and Planned Parenthood are suing to try and block Ohio's heartbeat abortion ban. They claim the Ohio law that went into effect after the Supreme Court ruled abortions not constitutionally protected, is unconstitutional. (Statenews)
