Earlier this week, I held a telephone town hall and asked the thousands of Ohioans on the call if they are paying more for basic life necessities, like food and gas, than they were six months ago.

Over 96% said YES.

President Biden can’t hide the fact that his disastrous economic policies are causing Americans everywhere, including those in Eastern and Southeastern Ohio, to pay more for what they need in their daily lives.

Southern Border Crossings Reach 21 Year High

The graph above paints a grim, but realistic, picture of what is happening at our southern border. Border Patrol agents encountered over 188,000 individuals trying to enter our country last month alone. It’s the highest number in 21 years. Despite the monthly increases, Border Czar - Vice President Kamala Harris - continues to claim that we’re seeing “extreme progress” at our southern border.

Real progress will not be achieved until laws are enforced and consequences are implemented for individuals illegally entering our country. It’s time for the Biden Administration to get serious about solving our immigration and border security crisis that his policies have created, instead of trying to deceive the American people.

Honoring Service Members in Jefferson County

Eight years ago, the Jefferson County Veterans Association set out to construct a wall to honor those from the community who served and are currently serving. They anticipated around 90 bricks to be purchased with names to be place on it – a modest goal. That goal has been greatly exceeded with the 888 bricks honoring those who served from as far back as the War of 1812 to the present day which were unveiled last weekend in Smithfield. The majority of the bricks for the Veterans Memorial Wall were purchased by Jefferson County residents honoring Jefferson County veterans.

This project is a wonderful example of Americans honoring their own. The federal government didn’t come in and do this. Friends, neighbors, co-workers, and fellow veterans took the initiative and did it. Everyone who played a role in this should be proud – and the community should take pride in this new Memorial Wall. It was an honor to be at the unveiling of this worthy tribute on Saturday.

President Biden's Land Management Nominee Raises Red Flags
President Biden's nominee to head the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Tracy Stone-Manning, is totally unqualified. She collaborated with eco-terrorists in a 1989 tree spiking (booby-trapping trees with metal spikes aimed to injure loggers) plot and only cooperated with the investigation after being caught.

The BLM governs one-eighth of the country's landmass, including land in Eastern and Southeastern Ohio’s Wayne National Forest. There are many qualified people who could have been selected; instead, the administration chose someone who demonstrated an extreme lack of respect for the livelihoods of others. To this day, the logging and forest products industry employs 119,000 in Ohio alone…and the BLM also oversees federal oil and gas leases on these public lands and the good-paying jobs that go with them. Someone like Stone-Manning should not even work at the BLM, let alone run it. The full Senate should definitely vote this deeply flawed nominee down.
