1. A portion of the Marietta River Trail and a parking area on Post Street has been blocked off by a temporary fence next to a U.S. Army Corp of Engineers property. The fence is affecting businesses in that area, while specifics about the work to be done were not immediately available. A section in a wall in the fenced-off area that's about five feet tall and was leaning about 10 inches into the bike path and parking area. (Marietta Times)
2. In a blow to the Democratic Party's chances of competing for a new district seat, Mahoning County Commissioner Anthony Traficanti said he will not seek the 6th Congressional District seat. Traficanti was first elected commissioner in 2004 and was seen as the party's most formidable candidate to challenge U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson, R-Marietta, in the newly-drawn district that favors Republicans based on voting trends. (The Vindicator)

• Two six-month-old female Shepherd mix puppies, Alexa and Siri, were brought to the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley on August 25, 2021, after they were found in the Veto Lake/Vincent Ohio area, and surprisingly nobody called or came looking about them. Alexa and Siri have been in the shelter for four months waiting on a fabulous home. (Facebook)
