Jerry R. Mitchell

Obituary

Jerry Mitchell, 67, of Vincent, Ohio, passed away on January 28, 2026, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 28, 1958 in Marietta to Donald Earl Mitchell and Deloris Raines Mitchell.

Jerry was a 1976 graduate of Waterford High School and was a member of their first football team. He was an Elder for Lowell Christian Church and proudly served in the United States Navy from 1988 to 1994 as an FC2. After his service, he pursued a career in driving semitrailers for over 30 years.

He is survived by his wife Laura Porter Mitchell of Vincent, Ohio whom he married on April 26, 1984; his sons, Don Mitchell (Brittany) and David Mitchell (Jacki); his mother, Deloris Raines Mitchell; his sisters, Charlotte "Bert" Ruble, Cheryl King (Tom) and Donna Henderson (Marty). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cainen Hamilton, Isaiah Mitchell, Xavier Mitchell, Braxton Mitchell, Ariya Mitchell, Wyatt Mitchell, and Preston Haight, as well as several nieces and nephews and his beloved cats, BC and Chewy.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father Donald Mitchell.

A Celebration of Life will be held on his birthday, March 28, 2026, at Lowell Christian Church in Lowell, Ohio. Additional details will follow at a later date.
