
Lawrence R. Schaad "Larry" passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at his home, just two days shy of his 80th birthday. He was born to Lawrence J. and Margaret Arnold Schaad on January 27, 1944. He was the oldest of 8 children.
Larry worked for 40 years at Marietta Concrete/Marietta Structures working in maintenance. He retired in 2009. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Churchtown and Churchtown Senior Citizens. He was a proud member of the Lanes Market "Liar's Club” where he attended morning meetings with his buddies and shared the local gossip. After the meetings, he would venture off to the local slaughterhouse and other places along the way to visit friends. He loved his farm, raising beef cattle and tomatoes. He always strived to have a ripe tomato by July 4th every year. Larry was happiest spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet whom he married on October 2, 1965. Son, Ed (Kerri) and daughters, Lori Hart (Dean), Kelly Miller (Andy), and Amanda Warner (Jason); grandchildren, Cameron & Garret Miller, Dylan Hart, Owen & Karli Schaad, Morgan, Baylee & Kennedy Warner; brothers, David (Dottie), Mike (Marilyn) and Bruce Schaad and sisters Patty Zoller, Phyllis Anderson (Jim) and Marcia Noll; brothers-in-law, David Zoller (Donna) and Steve Zoller (Karen); and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his dog Jake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Roger, sisters-in-law Peggy Schaad, Tina Schaad, brothers-in-law, Richard "Dick" Zoller and Bill Zoller.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cawley, Marcia and the wonderful staff at Strecker Cancer Center and Shriver's Hospice for their kindness and care during Larry's illness.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with the Revs. David Gaydosik and Dale Tornes concelebrating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME, with a rosary service held at 7:30 p.m.
