Here are the top stories today in Marietta:

1. A man accused of killing his mother in Washington County has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity and will now undergo a psychological evaluation. Lionel Gore's attorney filed a suggestion of incompetence on December 8th; it was decided in court Tuesday that Gore will have his competency reviewed. Authorities believe Gore killed his mother, Diane Gore, in her New Matamoras home in early November before setting the home on fire and threatening witnesses as he fled the scene. He was arrested in West Virginia not long after on separate charges, then later indicted by a Washington County Grand Jury. (WTAP-TV)
2. Looking to get in the holiday spirit with some holiday spirits? Celebrate downtown Marietta's DORA – Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area – this holiday season. Grab some friends, put on your ugly sweater, and head downtown to grab a DORA drink from participating establishments. The event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 18 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. While the Ugly Sweater DORA Crawl is free to join and tickets are not required, consumers should expect to pay a $1 DORA fee for each drink purchased.
