- Marietta hospitals are close to capacity according to recent statistics given to the federal government in the last week of December. The percent of inpatient beds used is 96.69% at Marietta Memorial Hospital while Selby General Hospital's percent of inpatient beds used is 62.86%. (Marietta Patch)

- According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Marietta, Ohio, a Marietta resident was arrested Wednesday afternoon by Agents with the Southeastern Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force. On 29 Dec. 2021, Daniel Earl Sciance Jr., age 25 agreed to meet with who he believed to be a 15-year-old female to engage in sexual activity. Agents then intercepted Sciance in the 100 block of Gross Street and took him into custody. (Facebook)
- On Dec. 28, Sandy Lee Taylor, 43 was taken into custody by deputies from the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Marietta, Ohio for assault. The assault is a misdemeanor. (Facebook)
- The Marietta Times broke the news of Ghislaine Maxwell's conviction on December 29. She was convicted Wednesday of luring teenage girls to be sexually abused by the American millionaire Jeffrey Epstein; the verdict capped a month-long trial that included sordid accounts of the sexual exploitation of girls as young as 14.
